About the Program

Aboriginal Throughcare - Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) is a 12-week program designed to specifically work with Aboriginal men who are committed to changing their behaviours.

There is a strong focus on mind, body and soul with education and around developing personal skills.

The program is culturally safe and designed to challenage the thoughts that lead to controlling behaviours, violence and abuse.

During the pre-release stage, we assess the client’s criminogenic and psychosocial needs. We establish a relationship with the client and collaborate to create a support plan which helps clients to transition back into the community.

Our case managers practice a person-centred approach and provide holistic support to our clients. We aim to remove barriers for successful engagement with services in the community. The support we offer includes helping clients in finding accommodation, training, sustainable employment, and mental health and substance use counselling.

Outcare prioritises cultural safety and people’s well-being, to ensure they receive the appropriate, client-led support. We value lived experience, which is why we employ people with lived experience as peer workers to walk alongside client through their journey.

Outcare

Outcare provides justice, reintegration and support services to help people engage positively with community. Outcare can provide support in prison, during release and after release to help rebuild positive lives, families and futures.

The WA Men’s Behaviour Change Network is a collaborative group established and facilitated by Stopping Family Violence Inc. (SFV) and developed to strengthen the working relationships across the perpetrator intervention system in Western Australia.
